The conditional Knockout (cKO) model enables precise gene deletion within specific tissues or at predetermined developmental stages, thereby overcoming the early lethality frequently observed in conventional knockout models. This precision is achieved through the Cre-loxP system, where the target gene is flanked by loxP sites. Gene disruption occurs only upon the expression of Cre recombinase, which can be activated by specific molecular triggers or under the control of tissue-specific promoters, granting unparalleled spatial and temporal control.
